Curriculum

Christ the King follows the curriculum guidelines established by the Diocesan School Office and the Indiana Department of Education. The curriculum is aligned to "best practice" standards, resulting in a curriculum that encourages our students to become life-long learners. In keeping with our educational beliefs, the faculty makes every effort to design a curriculum program that reflects the mission of the entire school community. Such a program contains not only the required content, but also the varied learning experiences that will in time allow students to take charge of their own education throughout their lives. The curriculum is adapted as much as possible in a school setting to help the children gain mastery of basic learning skills.

The basic core curriculum of religion, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science is enhanced by other subjects to allow the student to develop his/her potential as a whole person. Faculty members also make full use of the resources found throughout the Evansville community.

Music, art and PE classes are provided to students in Preschool-Grade 8 and are all taught by certified instructors. Instrumental music classes are also offered by a Memorial High School faculty member to 6-8 students. Students in Preschool-5th grade receive Spanish instruction weekly. All students, Preschool-8th grade also receive technology instruction. Students in grades Preschool-5th grade are organized on a modified self-contained room pattern. Grades 6-8 follow a departmental pattern.

Services for learning disabilities and speech are provided by Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation and are available on a limited basis to help Christ the King students in need of these services.
